How to Specify K9 Leash Hardware for OEM Orders

OEM K9 gear · buyer guide

Specify the connection first. Then choose the leash hardware.

For an OEM K9 leash order, identify the dog-side clip, its mating ring, the webbing attachment and any optional vehicle connector as separate parts. Review how they work together on the assembled sample.

Define the connection before selecting a part

The clip at the dog end attaches to a collar or harness ring. A vehicle seat-belt tongue, if included in the design, serves a different connection. Treating these as interchangeable “leash clips” creates an unclear specification and an unclear sample review.

Review the frog-style clip as part of the finished leash

The supplied samples show black frog-style dog-side clips. For a repeatable order, identify the exact hardware reference rather than relying on the name “frog clip” alone. Review the opening action and the chosen collar or harness ring together, then confirm which way the clip faces when the leash is assembled.

The frog-clip dog leash product is a finished-design reference. Your specification should still identify the clip, mating ring and attachment layout required for your own version.

Match the webbing and sewn attachment

A compatible clip is only one part of the assembly. Record the webbing width, hardware slot width, threading path, folded return and stitch position. Review these details on a sewn sample because a loose clip and a separate webbing swatch cannot show the final interface.

For recording cut length, finished dimensions and construction changes across revisions, use the webbing strap sample approval guide. Keep the approved connector and its matching part with those dimensions.

If a vehicle connector is included, specify it separately

The orange leash sample has a metal vehicle seat-belt tongue. It is not the dog-side collar or harness clip. Include its part reference only when the project requires a vehicle connection, and identify the receptacle used for review.

Approval boundary: Neither these photos nor a hardware name proves load capacity, vehicle compatibility, certification or compliance. Define any required test method, acceptance criteria and supporting documents for the exact finished design.
